Index testing tool flag reference

Index Cloud Partners
Last Updated: October 15, 2026•

These are the optional flags for the Index testing tool. Each one has a working default, so you only need them to tune a run: to change the load, the latency threshold, the timeouts, or how much the tool logs. For the flags every run needs, see Using the Index testing tool.

Pass these flags in the same COMMAND_LINE_FLAGS string as the required ones. For example, the following run sends 75,000 requests per second across 20 workers, with a 50ms latency SLA:

docker run \
  --network="host" \
  -t --rm --name send-rtd-requests \
  -e COMMAND_LINE_FLAGS="-e host.docker.internal:50051 -m grpc -q 75000 -c 20 -base-url http://host.docker.internal:8080 -lifecycle LIFECYCLE_PUBLISHER_BID_REQUEST -s 50" \

Optional flags

FlagMeaningDefault

-c

Concurrent workers sending requests

100

-q

Target total requests/sec across all workers

1000

-d

Test duration in seconds (0 = run until you stop it)

0

-s

Latency SLA in ms (also used as gRPC tmax)

5

-err

Max allowed failure rate %, before the run is marked failed

50

-t

Per-request timeout in ms

30

-l

Log verbosity

0

-health

Override the health check protocol if it needs to differ from -m (rarely needed)

same as -m

-lightweight

Runs only the checks Index makes when you push an image (health check and metrics endpoints reachable, GetMutations implemented), then exits without running the load test. See How Index checks this.
