How segment targeting works

As a Marketplace PartnerClosed The owner of an Index Marketplace that curates their media solutions within the Index Marketplace and packages these offerings to bring incremental demand to media owners. For example, a Marketplace Partner could be a media agency, a data provider, or retail media network., you can target segments that you have permission to use when creating a Marketplace Package. These can be segments that Data Vendors have made available to you, or your own segments. If you own segments, you must register them to your Marketplace account before you can target them in your Marketplace Packages.

To include segments in targeting, you build segment sets, where each set includes the segments that you want to combine using an "or" rule. When multiple segment sets are added, an "and" logic is applied between them. You can target up to four segment sets and exclude one segment set from targeting in a dealClosed A private auction that allows media owners to offer specific inventory directly to selected buyers identified by a deal ID. Terms are negotiated and are agreed upon before the auction occurs.. You can include up to 50 segments, divided among all of the sets.

Single segment set inclusion example

The following example shows segment targeting where one segment set is being targeted in a deal. A deal will activate when a user is identified as being part of the DiningOut OR GlutenFree segment.

Multiple segment sets inclusion example

The following example shows segment targeting where two segment sets are being targeted in a deal. A deal will activate when a user is identified as being part of the DiningOut OR GlutenFree segment AND when they are also a part of the Diet and Fitness segment. So both segment set rules must apply and the audience is narrowed down from the single segment set example.

 

Multiple segment sets inclusion and exclusion example

The following example shows segment targeting where three segment sets are being targeted in a deal and one segment set is being excluded from being targeted. A deal will activate when a user is identified as being part of the DiningOut OR GlutenFree audience AND when they are also a part of the Diet and Fitness audience, but NOT a part of the Baking OR Vegetarian segment.
