Use cases

As a Media Owner, here are some examples of why you'd use the reporting dashboard:

  • Time savings: It's efficient to log in and get a quick 360 view of how your business is functioning on the exchange.

  • Troubleshooting: The dashboard makes it easier to spot and fix difficult to find issues. For example, the number of bids blocked or a drop in your slot requests could translate into meaningful revenue.

  • Easy to use: The dashboard offers easy to use filters with drop-down menu suggestions.

  • Sharing data: You can download your filtered dashboard data.

Accessing the page and dashboard

Note: Certain browser settings can prevent this dashboard from displaying. Make sure that third-party cookies are allowed. For example, if you're a Safari user, go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy and make sure these settings are turned off: Block all cookies and Prevent cross-site tracking.

To access and share your dashboard, you can follow these steps:

  1. Enter your email address and password to log in to the Index UI at app.indexexchange.com.

  2. If you have more than one account, select the account that you want to access.

  3. You will see your account's performance data in the reporting dashboard. Refer to the table below for more information on the available tiles and descriptions of what is contained in each tile:

    Your estimated net revenue. To view your exact revenue data, see View your payments from Index. The green or red percentage below shows a comparison between the Date Range you selected and the prior period. For example, Last 30 days compares revenue from the last 30 days to the 30 days before.

    Impressions

    The total number of impressions, including dealClosed A private auction that allows media owners to offer specific inventory directly to selected buyers identified by a deal ID. Terms are negotiated and are agreed upon before the auction occurs. impressions. The green or red percentage below shows a comparison between the Date Range you selected and the prior period. For example, Week to date compares impressions from the current week to date to the week before.

    eCPMClosed Effective Cost Per Mille (eCPM). A publisher metric used as an estimate of the revenue media owners receive for every thousand ad impressions. It allows media owners to compare the effectiveness of different types of advertising and optimize to increase revenue. eCPM is calculated as (Total Earnings / Impressions) x 1000. eCPM is essentially the same as revenue per mille (RPM).

    Bid Blocked Rate

    The percentage of bids that were blocked as a result of the Media Owner's creativeClosed A digital ad made available in various creative types, defined by their size in pixels such as 300x250px. settings. The green or red percentage below shows a comparison between the Date Range you selected and the period prior. For example, Yesterday compares yesterday's bid blocked rate to the day before yesterday.

    Bid Below FloorClosed A pricing control used by media owners and exchanges to set a minimum sale price on inventory.

    The percentage of bids that were blocked because they were below the auction's floor price. The green or red percentage below shows a comparison between the Date Range you selected and the period prior. For example, Last 30 days compares the number of bids below floor from the past 30 days to the 30 days before.

    Bids Chosen

    The number of bids that were submitted to your ad server. The green or red percentage below shows a comparison between the Date Range you selected and the period prior. For example, Today compares the bids chosen so far today to the day before.

    Bid Cycle

    A visualization of the number of bids that fall into each stage of the bid cycle, where:

  4. To view specific information in the reporting dashboard, you can filter the results using any of the following criteria:

    Date Range

    All data is displayed in the local time zone and currency set in your account settings. For more information, see View and edit your account settings in the Index UI. The possible values are:

    • Today: Includes data from 12:00 AM today up to the current time, with a 2-6 hour delay. For example, a dashboard accessed at 8:00 AM would include roughly six hours of data, given the 2-6 hour delay.

      Note: If you included Today in your selection, the period over period comparison values may be lower.

    • Yesterday: Includes data from the previous day, ending at 12:00 AM.
    • Last 7 days: Includes data from the previous seven days, ending at 12:00 AM on the day the dashboard is accessed. This report does not include data for the day the dashboard is accessed.
    • Last 14 days: Includes data from the previous 14 days, ending at 12:00 AM on the day the dashboard is accessed. This report does not include data for the day the dashboard is accessed.
    • Last 30 days: Includes data from the previous 30 days, ending at 12:00 AM on the day the dashboard is accessed. This report does not include data for the day the dashboard is accessed.
    • Week to date: Includes data from the current week, starting on Monday and ending on the day the dashboard is accessed.
    • Month to date: Includes data from the current month, starting on the first day of the month and ending on the day the dashboard is accessed.
    • Last week: Includes data from the previous week, starting on the first day of the week.
    • Last month: Includes data from the previous month, starting on the first day of the month.

    Creative Type

    The type of ad being requested. The possible values are:

    • Banner: Filter by banner impressions.
    • Video: Filter by video impressions.
    • Native: Filter by native impressions.

    Device Type

    The type of device from which the impression originated. The possible values are:

    • Mobile/tablet: Filter by impressions that originated from a mobile device or a tablet, such as a Samsung galaxy.
    • Personal_computer: Filter by impressions that originated from a personal computer, such as a MacBook Pro.
    • Connected_tv: Filter by impressions that originated from a TV that has built in connection to the internet, such as a Samsung smart TV.
    • Phone: Filter by impressions that originated from a phone, such as an iPhone or Nokia.
    • Tablet: Filter by impressions that originated from a tablet, such as an iPad or Amazon Fire HD.
    • Connected_device: Filter by impressions that originated from a connected device, such as an Amazon Firestick, Xbox, PlayStation, Apple TV.
    • Set_top_box: Filter by impressions that originated from a set top boxClosed A device that provides on-demand video directly to users, for example a cable box., such as a Comcast X1 Box (or type of cable box).

    Domain / App Bundle

    Either the domain used in the bid requestClosed An OpenRTB request that is sent from a supply-side platform (SSP) or ad exchange to the DSP requesting a bid response for potential impressions. A bid request contains information about the impression that allows the DSP to decide whether to bid on the impression., or a platform-specific mobile application ID.

    Inventory Channel

    The environment through which the ad is shown. The possible values are:
