Understanding fees for using segments
When you create a Marketplace Package, you can choose to target segments in the deal. In addition to your own data, you can also use segments that have been provided to you by a Data Vendor. When an impression occurs, the Data Vendor A type of Marketplace Partner that owns data segments that can be used by Index customers for a fee. may collect a fee called a Marketplace Vendor Fee for the use of these segments. The total fee depends on the number of segments that have activated the deal A private auction that allows publishers to offer specific inventory directly to selected buyers identified by a deal ID. Terms are negotiated and are agreed upon before the auction occurs. and the number of different Data Vendors who own the segments. If multiple segments have activated the deal, only the highest fee for each Data Vendor is applied. Marketplace Vendor Fees are included in the total Marketplace fees applicable to the transaction. To learn how Marketplace Vendor Fees work with your revenue share and other fees, see Understanding vendor fees for Marketplace Partners.
If a segment has a fee, you can see the fee amount when you select the segments to target in a Marketplace Package, as shown in the following screenshot:
The following explains how vendor fees are applied in various scenarios.
| Segments active on the deal | How it works | Total fee applied |
|---|---|---|
|
In this scenario, a single segment from Data Vendor A has activated the deal, so just the fee for this segment would be applied. |
$1.00 |
|
In this scenario, two segments from Data Vendor A have activated the deal. The highest fee associated with the segments would be applied because the multiple segments are from the same Data Vendor. |
$2.00 |
|
In this scenario, one segment from Data Vendor A and one segment from Data Vendor B have activated the deal. Both segment fees would be applied because each Data Vendor must collect a fee. |
$2.00 |
|
In this scenario, two segments from Data Vendor A and two segments from Data Vendor B have activated the deal. The highest fee for each Data Vendor would be applied. This is because only the highest fee is applied when multiple segments are selected, but eachData Vendor must collect a fee. |
