Supported OpenRTB objects

Index now supports the Global Privacy Platform (GPP) framework for streamlining how user choices are signaled across all jurisdictions recognized by the IAB.

Support for the OpenRTB device.sua object

Index now supports the OpenRTB device.sua object for DSPs. The sua (structured user-agent) object allows publishers to transmit device-level information derived from User-Agent Client Hints to buyers.

OpenRTB 2.6

Index has added support for receiving OpenRTB 2.6 requests from publishers and sending them to DSPs. We now accept and send "2.6" as the default x-openrtb-version header value.

Additionally, we have added support for the following OpenRTB fields:

  • imp.rwdd (for publishers and DSPs)

Update to report creation limits

We have updated our report limit guidelines for the Reporting API and Reports in the Index UI to the following:

  • Scheduled reports: There is a maximum of 50 active hourly reports, and 100 daily, weekly, or monthly reports.

  • Concurrently running reports: There is a maximum of 25 concurrent ad hoc reports and, additionally, a maximum of 25 concurrent direct-to-email reports.

  • Maximum one-time reports: There is a maximum of 500 direct-to-email or ad hoc reports run in the past 7 days.

  • Maximum times you can save a report: There is a maximum of 1000 times you can save a report in the past 7 days. This includes creating new reports, editing existing reports, or sending direct-to-email reports.

Local time zone and currency

Reports in the Index UI and the Reporting API now support local time zone and currency for publishers, in General Availability (GA). For more information on creating a report in the Index UI using your local time zone and currency, see Create a custom report.

New reporting fields

Index has released two new reporting fields in the Reporting API, Reports in the Index UI, and CAL:

  • video_placement_type

  • prebidjs_version

Note: These fields are only available in Reports in the Index UI for publishers, and in the Reporting API for publishers and DSPs. They are available for all customer types in CAL. For more information about these fields, see Data dictionary.

Viewability targeting in deals and viewability reporting (Beta)

Publishers creating deals using inventory groups and Buyers using inventory packages can now target their deals against a minimum viewability score. To learn more about viewability, see What is viewability?.

Support for image-based user syncing

Index has always supported iframe-based user syncing for Prebid.js publishers. We now also support image-based user syncing with Index and our DSPs. For publishers who enable both iframe and image-based syncing, we will default to using iframe, because it allows us more flexibility to optimize the frequency, timing, and coverage for syncing. Impression measurement using OMID

Index now uses the IAB's Open Measurement Interface Definition (OMID) to measure impressions for mobile app banners. OMID provides a standardized method of sending billing notifications to Index and DSPs, which reduces reporting discrepancies between all parties. We encourage all mobile app publishers who monetize banners to adopt OMID.

Support for the OpenRTB app.ext object

Index now supports the inventorypartnerdomain field in the app.ext object in bid requests. This object allows the seller to provide a pointer to the domain of an inventory partner that is explicitly authorized to monetize ads within an application's content.

Update to the Site IDs page in the Index UI

The Site ID page is the new and improved version of the Site Tag page in the Index UI. The improvements include:

  • Improved management of your site IDs with enhanced search and sort functionality.

  • Easy to create site IDs and copy blocks from existing site IDs.

  • Automatic activation of new site IDs on creation.

  • Easy to edit site IDs that you already created.

Supported OpenRTB objects

Index acknowledges that sellers may collect and pass the following fields:

  • app.keywords*, app.sectioncat, app.pagecat

  • site.keywords*, site.pagecat, site.sectioncat

  • user.geo

(*) It is the responsibility of sellers to ensure they do not include any information that can be considered personal data, personal information or sensitive information in the following free-text fields:

  • site.search**

  • user.gender**, user.keywords**, user.yob**

(**) These fields will be available to publishers in setting up deals, but the field will not be sent in bid requests to DSPs.

Index may retain full requests containing the value(s) of these fields for troubleshooting purposes for up to 30 days. You can find out more by reading our Data Retention policy.

Prebid.js outstream video player (Beta)

Index's outstream video player is now available in a closed Beta in Prebid.js. Publishers who are using Index as a bidding adapter in Prebid.js can use our outstream video player to show outstream video ads from us on their site.

New and updated targeting options for deals using inventory groups

Publishers creating deals using inventory groups can now target their deals against the following targeting criteria:

  • Device types

  • Video placements

Previously, ad formats and ad units were managed through the Ad units field. We have now separated ad formats and ad units targeting into two separate fields:

  • Ad formats

  • Ad units

New Universal IDs (Beta)

Six new Universal IDs are available in an open Beta for publishers and a closed Beta for buyers, including:

  • Audigent (inferred ID)

  • Epsilon (inferred ID)

  • ID5 (inferred ID)

  • Lotame (inferred ID)

  • SharedID (inferred ID)

  • TrustPid (authenticated ID)

Index has released our Reporting API to DSPs in Beta. The Reporting API provides DSPs with direct access to aggregated reporting on all of their activity from Index. DSPs can access Index’s many reporting fields by using the API to create custom reports tailored to each of their specific needs. For more information, see Reporting API.

Support for multiple ad sizes in a single bid request

Index Exchange (Index) allows publishers to send a single bid request for an impression opportunity that supports multiple ad sizes. DSP partners can enable the OpenRTB 2.5 format object with Index to receive these ad sizes in a single request. Enabled DSPs must include the w and h values in the bid object of the bid response. To enable receiving multi-size requests, contact your Index Representative.

Note: Index supports multi-size on Prebid.js (version 5.3.0 or higher), IX Library™, OpenRTB, Google Open Bidding, AMP Real Time Config (RTC), and Amazon TAM integrations. We currently do not have support for Prebid Server.

As part of Index Exchange's ongoing commitment to privacy, Index now removes all query strings in the site.ref field in bid requests that we send to DSPs. This change also applies to Client Audit Logs. For example, the value in the site.ref field that previously contained user data in a query string, such as www.example.com/article?n=joe is now sent to DSPs as www.example.com/article.

Support for OpenRTB connectiontype parameter

You can now send the connectiontype field in the Device object in the bid request. Sending this field lets DSPs know if the device is using a cellular connection or WiFi, allowing them to optimize the campaigns and creatives in their bids.

The Payments (beta) screen in the Index UI is now available for publishers in an open Beta. The Payments (beta) screen allows publishers to see payment-related information including net revenue, adjustments, any applicable taxes, adjusted net revenue, and more.

Support for ifa_type and content extension objects

Index now supports the following new OpenRTB fields in bid requests:

  • ifa_type: The new ifa_type field in the device extension object helps identify the source of the Identifier for Advertising (IFA) according to the IAB Tech Lab's Guidelines for Identifier for Advertising (IFA) on CTV/OTT platforms. DSPs can use the ifa_type and ifa fields together to control the frequency of ads that are served.

  • content.extension object: The new Index-specific content extension object fields allow publishers to provide channel and network details for CTV and OTT content. DSPs can use this information for contextual targeting and resource grouping, which could increase the value of the inventory.

Update to Index’s TTL (time to live)

To support ad prefetching cases with longer content duration, Index has increased the TTL for video impressions in web, mobile, and CTV app from one hour to three hours.
